Story
Help Me Fight For My Health
My name is Ogbudu Judith Chigaemezu. I am from Cross River State, a graduate of the University of Abuja, and a content writer. There was a time when I did not think much about my health. I laughed freely, made plans for the future, and looked forward to life like every young person does. I never imagined that a condition I knew nothing about would one day affect almost every part of my life. In 2017, while I was in JSS 3, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. Although that was the year I received the diagnosis, I had been living with the condition for much longer without knowing it. For nearly a decade, scoliosis has been a constant part of my life. It is a condition that affects the spine, but its impact goes far beyond that. It affects my health, my confidence, the way I move, and even the way I see myself. Many people see me and assume I am fine, but they do not see the pain, discomfort, and daily challenges that come with living in a body that is constantly struggling. There have been days when simple tasks felt exhausting. Days when the pain made it difficult to focus. Days when I felt discouraged by the physical and emotional weight of this condition. Yet through it all, I have continued to hold on to hope. Today, I finally have an opportunity to change my story. Surgery offers me a chance to improve my health, reduce my pain, and regain parts of my life that scoliosis has taken from me. It offers hope for a future with more freedom, more comfort, and more possibilities. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is more than I can afford on my own. That is why I am reaching out for help. I started this campaign not only to raise funds for my surgery but also to create awareness about scoliosis and the realities many people living with it face every day. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to receiving the treatment I need. And if you are unable to donate, sharing my story with others would mean more than you know. For years, I have carried this burden largely on my own. Today, I am asking for support so that I do not have to carry it alone anymore. Your kindness, generosity, and prayers give me hope. They remind me that even in difficult moments, there are people willing to help others heal. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for your support. Thank you for helping me take one step closer to a healthier future.
